- We chose five shows to analyze: The Real Housewives of New Jersey, Bad Girls Club: Redemption, Jersey Shore, Love & Hip Hop, and Couples Therapy with Dr. Jen.
- Our corpus was television and we analyzed the shows at a scene level.
- We found that these shows framed women to be verbally abusive, promiscuous, engage in physical violence, accept male authority, and overall just project negative qualities.
- Scene’s were viewed as either positive (+), negative (-), neutral (=), or no portrayal (0).
- When counting the total, the negative key was the most dominant. Again, our hypothesis was proven correct.
